A creative pursuit has the power to transform your life in many ways.

That is because it opens up your mind and gives you a new perspective on your life and life in general. This can be extremely beneficial to a lot of people. It can enhance your ability to understand your own thoughts better, not just other people. You may become more empathetic and develop a better way of communicating. This can have a very positive social effect on your life and can well enable you to rise from your shell, if you have one.

Increased Happiness

If you have suffered a little bit from depression or a low mood, then creating art is a great way to combat this. If you become engrossed in the act of creating something, there is nothing else in the world to you at that moment except you and your art. This total absorption is called a flow state, and some people liken it to a meditative state, and the benefits are very similar from lower self-esteem, lower stress and anxiety, a higher mood, etc. Also, by working on something with repetitive movements, whether that be paintbrush swipes or playing a note on a guitar, your brain generates dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical in the body that makes you feel happy, meaning the act of creating can actually become addictive. Dopamine may actually drive you to create more art.

Your Immune System

Creating something means that you are freeing your body of things such as stress and anxiety. You are, in effect, becoming calmer, and this can improve your physical health and immune function. A study conducted on people who were writing creatively found that it increased the body’s CD4+ lymphocyte count, and this is an essential part of the immune system. If you enjoy playing music, this is also a great way to improve your immune system.

It’s Good for Mental Health

A creative pursuit is a great thing to enhance your mental health and well-being. By indulging in something creative, you are focusing intently on that thing, and this has a meditative effect, and the benefits are very similar. That means you can reduce stress and anxiety and reduce your level of depression. Arty also enhances our ability to communicate. Not only does it help you understand your own feeling and emotions better, but you can communicate them to other people. This has the effect of making you feel less alone. If you struggle with verbal expression, then writing can help you articulate things more easily. Art such as painting is good for people who have suffered trauma as they can express emotions in a non-verbal way which can be a far easier mode of expression. Music is also a great way to express emotions, and it has the power to make people really feel what you feel, and this can be quite liberating. It doesn’t matter which instrument you play they all have this effect. Ensure you use this stand for a keyboard, so you have it at the right level to heighten your playing ability.
