North American airport restaurateur and retailer Paradies Lagardère has teamed up with Top Chef alum and Food Network personality Karen Akunowicz to bring her take on the cuisine of Modena, Italy, and the welcoming energy of her popular South Boston enoteca Fox & the Knife to BOS with the opening of Fox & Flight.

This new concession option is now open, just in time for Women's History Month, offering travelers traditional Italian food and drink with modern sensibility by renowned female chef Akunowicz.

“Chef Karen is a local favorite in Boston, and we’re thrilled to have her providing passengers with a true taste of the city,” says Claude Guillaume, senior vice president of dining operations for Paradies Lagardère. “Guests can expect bold flavors, beloved Italian dishes presented in new ways and an Amaro-centric beverage program.”

Akunowicz’s restaurants embrace the concept and spirit of a communal gathering place where guests come together to celebrate the everyday joys of good company and great food. A casual, contemporary homage to the food, wine, and culture of Modena, Italy, Fox & the Knife was named one of Food & Wine’s “Best New Restaurants in America” in 2019.

Like Fox & the Knife, Fox & Flight highlights Akunowicz’s flair for the soul-satisfying Italian food that she perfected while working in Modena, Italy as a chef and pasta maker. The menu at Fox & Flight focuses on handmade pastas and bright antipasti dishes plus Aperitivo and Amaro programs.

Before striking out on her own to open Fox & the Knife, Akunowicz led the kitchen at Myers+Chang for seven years. During this time, she was named one of the “21 Badass Women Changing the Food World” by Marie Claire and won the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Northeast. Akunowicz has competed on Bravo’s “Top Chef” Season 13, “Top Chef All Stars,” and Food Network’s “Tournament of Champions.” She is also a recurring judge on “Beat Bobby Flay.” Last fall, Akunowicz released her first solo cookbook titled “Crave: Bold Recipes That Make You Want Seconds” and is currently working on her second cookbook.

This is not the first time Paradies Lagardère has collaborated with a nationally acclaimed chef. The leading airport restaurateur and retailer also partners with celebrity chefs Michael Symon and Michael Mina, as well as James Beard Award-nominated chef Duane Nutter, to craft first-class guest experiences in airports across the country. Fox & Flight joins other Paradies Lagardère concepts at BOS including Berkshire Farms Market (Terminal A, Gate A6 and Terminal B, Gate B22), Stephanie’s (Terminal B, Gate B24 and Terminal E, Gate E7), Boston Beer Works (Terminal C, Gate C26), Dine Boston (pre-security Terminal E), Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse (Terminal C, Gate C26), and Vino Volo (Terminal E, Level 3 Departures).
