The term “glow-up” has been around for a while now, and you can say it’s fairly synonymous with the word “makeover.” You can probably recall in those late ‘90s and early ’00s movies where there’s a montage of someone taking off their glasses, letting their hair down, and wearing a red dress, and that somehow makes them look transformative. You can say that a glow-up is a similar concept, except it’s supposed to be a long-term transformation that creates a bigger impact. So, how can you get an incredible glow-up? What can you do in order to achieve this? Keep reading on to find out more!

It All Starts with the Body

Now, this doesn’t instantly mean that you need to be skinny or lean in order to have a transformative glow-up. While yes, you can count on it helping a lot, it’s not the only focus when it comes to the body. It’s really going to be about how healthy you appear. Generally speaking, glow-ups are all about having a person look healthier than the way they were prior. This could be changing your posture or getting work done where you can get more information here about it. But these aren’t all the options either when it comes to focusing on the body.

It’s also about getting enough sleep, something your eyes and skin will make obvious. The same can be said about exercising. While most people think that you should only exercise to lose weight, it’s mostly about agility and stamina. It’s something that’s pretty obviously shown when working towards a glow-up. So yes, losing weight can count, and it does have a major impact, but when it comes to the body, there is so much more that needs to be put into consideration when glowing up.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Having a healthy diet is one of the most important things you can do to glow up. Make sure to eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, and healthy fats. Swap out sugary snacks and drinks for something healthier, such as a piece of fruit or a smoothie. Try to cut back on caffeine, too. Too much can cause jitters and insomnia, which can have a negative impact on your appearance. Aim for a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day.

This will help to hydrate your skin, hair, and nails. Drinking water also helps to reduce signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Overall, just having a better diet and staying hydrated is going to impact your appearance, from your skin, hair, nails, and stamina, as well as how you feel emotionally. People are more confident if they eat healthy diets.

Take Care of Your Skin

Whether you want to go for luxurious treatments or just keep it to a solid skincare routine, it’s all up to you. But in the end, you shouldn’t neglect this whatsoever. Getting enough sleep is crucial for healthy skin and a glowing complexion. So, try to go to bed at a reasonable time and cut out unhealthy habits such as scrolling through social media or drinking too much coffee. Also, avoid skincare trends, as most of these just don’t work, and be weary of influencers. Your best bet is to talk to a dermatologist about what you can do best for your skin.

Cut Out Toxic People and Toxic Environments

It’s hard to have a glow-up if you’re stressed and gloomy all the time. It’s hard to even be happy if you’re having to battle with this. So instead, why not cut out what’s causing you stress? If you think about it, stress leads to more fine lines, more wrinkles, less healthy hair, less healthy skin, and lower mental health, and these can all then lead to lower physical health. Needless to say, you shouldn’t do this to yourself. If you’re constantly feeling hurt, used, and overwhelmed by people who don’t respect your boundaries, it may be time to cut them out of your life.

This can be a scary thing to do, but it’s important for your mental health. You might find that you’re better off avoiding these toxic people altogether instead of trying to confront them about their behavior. In any case, it’s best to process your feelings and thoughts before talking to them so that you can make the most effective decision. You need to give yourself your best life, and dealing with those and those bad environments takes away from you. It’s just not worth it in the end.
